In June 2008 [[Conor Murphy]], Minister for Regional Development, announced that there will be a study into the feasibility of connecting the A5 and A6.<ref name="eGov" /> Should it proceed, the scheme would most likely run from Drumahoe to south of Prehen along the south east of the city.<ref name="RailUpgrade" />
