In December 2021, the Catholic Cardinal and former [[Prefect]] of the [[Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith]] (CDF) [[Gerhard Ludwig Müller]] criticised in a controversial interview that people like WEF founder Schwab were sitting "on the throne of their wealth" and were not touched by the everyday difficulties and sufferings people face e.g. due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On the contrary, such elites would see crises as an opportunity to push through their agendas.
