The women's movement organized in Lebanon with the creation of the [[Syrian-Lebanese Women's Union]] in 1924; it split into the Women's Union under [[Ibtihaj Qaddoura]] and the [[Lebanese Women Solidarity Association]] under [[Laure Thabet]] in 1946.
