The [[Opernhaus am Zwinger]] presented opera from 1719 to 1756, when the [[Seven Years' War]] began. The later [[Semperoper]] was completely destroyed during the bombing of Dresden during the second world war. The opera's reconstruction was completed exactly 40 years later, on 13 February 1985.
