=== Mail-scan fraud === In February 2021, United Airlines was fined $49 million by the [[United States Department of Justice]] on charges of fraud on postal service contracts for transportation of international mail. According to investigators, between 2012 and 2015 United submitted delivery scan data to make it appear that United and its partner airlines complied with International Commercial Air requirements with accurate delivery times when in fact they were automated delivery scans with aspirational delivery time.
