The population density was {{convert|120.4|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup of Edwards AFB was 1,518 (73.6%) [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 165 (8.0%) [[Black (U.S. Census)|Black]], 16 (0.8%) [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 99 (4.8%) [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 10 (0.5%) [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 96 (4.7%) from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 159 (7.7%) from two or more races. The [[population density]] was {{convert|132.9|PD/sqkm|sp=us}}. There were 1,783 housing units at an average density of {{convert|40.1|PD/sqkm|abbr=on}}. The [[Race (United States Census)|racial makeup]] of the base was 72.7% [[White people|White]], 10.4% [[Black people|Black]], 0.8% [[Native Americans in the United States|Native American]], 4.4% [[Asian American|Asian]], 0.5% [[Pacific Islander]], 5.4% from other races, and 5.7% from two or more races. 11.7% of the population were [[Hispanic and Latino Americans|Hispanic or Latino]] of any race.
