Polish Independence Day is celebrated on 11 November, and is a public holiday. Although the holiday occurs on the same day as Remembrance Day in the Commonwealth, the holiday is intended to celebrate the independence of Poland and the regaining of freedom and unity for the Polish people after 123 years of [[Partitions of Poland|partitioning]].

However, some commemorations for war dead do occur on Polish Independence Day, as the independence of Poland was caused by the end of the First World War.
