[[Norway]] provides state subsidies to religious communities, with some restrictions. Although Jehovah's Witnesses qualified for more than thirty years, they did not receive this funding in [[Oslo]] and [[Viken (county)|Viken]] in 2022. The decision was appealed and upheld by the Ministry of Children and Families.<ref name="USreport"/> In 2023, Jehovah's Witnesses were [[Freedom of religion in Norway#Religious group registration|fully deregistered]] as a religious community in Norway as a result of their [[#Disciplinary action|shunning practice]].
