Pirs was undocked by [[Progress MS-16]] on 26 July 2021, 10:56 UTC, and deorbited on the same day at 14:51 UTC to make room for the [[Nauka (ISS module)|''Nauka'']] module to be attached to the space station. Prior to its departure, Pirs served as the primary Russian airlock on the station, being used to store and refurbish the Russian Orlan spacesuits.
