In some countries, people [[racing|race each other]] on the backs of common ostriches. The practice is common in Africa<ref name="jhbradley"/> and is relatively unusual elsewhere.<ref name=park/> The common ostriches are ridden in the same way as horses with special saddles, reins, and bits.
