While the scientific method is broadly accepted in the scientific community, some fractions of society reject certain scientific positions or are sceptical about science. * Scientific authorities are sometimes seen as inexpert, untrustworthy, or biased.

Anti-science attitudes often seem to be caused by fear of rejection in social groups.
