Among criticisms is that a future matriarchy, according to Eller, as a reflection of spirituality, is conceived as ahistorical,<ref name="RelativizingPatriarchy-p291n27"/> and thus may be unrealistic, unreachable, or even meaningless as a goal to secular feminists.
