[[Eating disorders]] are reportedly common in figure skating<ref name=HP100120/><ref name=HP100121/><ref name=muscles/> and can result in the development of [[relative energy deficiency in sport]] (RED-S), formerly known as the "female athlete triad". RED-S is a syndrome of three interrelated conditions which can cause long-standing illness in girls and women and even death.
