==== By English region ==== {{see also|List of regions of the United Kingdom by GRDP}} England constitutes the vast majority of the total UK population (84.3%) and an even larger proportion of the GDP (86.25%). Therefore a large part of the regional variation in the UK economy occurs within England itself. London, which is the capital of both the UK and England, has the largest regional economy in England as well as the highest GDP per capita, whilst North East England has both the smallest economy out of the regions as measured by total nominal GDP, as well as the lowest GDP per capita in England. Below is a list of the [[Regions of England]] by GDP and GDP per capita, also provided by the ONS for the year 2022.<ref name=":1" /> {| class="wikitable" |- ! Rank !! Region !! Population !!
