Beyond providing emergency services, the Asbury Park Fire Department works to prevent fires and accidents. Department responsibilities include fire code enforcement, arson investigations, as well as fire prevention activities and fire / life safety education programs for children, families, and seniors.

Asbury Park currently has a centrally located fire station (with a new one planned for the future), with one Engine Company, one Ladder Company, two Basic Life Support Ambulances, a fireboat, and a Duty Battalion Chief. The department's apparatus fleet includes three engines (including a spare), two ladder trucks (including a spare), one rescue truck, and two ambulances, in addition to other equipment.
