Bolesław III Wrymouth died on 28 October 1138, probably in the town of [[Sochaczew]].<ref>L. Fabiańczyk: , p. 74.</ref> There are no records about the circumstances of his death, and twelfth-century sources don't provide information about his place of burial. It was only in the 15th century that [[Jan Długosz]] recorded that the duke's tomb was in the [[Masovian Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral]] in [[Płock]]. He didn't reveal the source of this information, but it was presumably from the lost ''Rocznik mazowiecki''. Wawrzyniec Wszerecz, Canon of Płock during the 16th–17th centuries, wrote that Bolesław was in a common coffin at the cathedral, where the remains of his father Władysław I Herman and several other Piast Masovian rulers were also placed.<ref>K.
