Utrecht's waterways are used by several rowing clubs. Viking is a large club open to the general public, and the student clubs Orca and Triton compete in the [[Varsity (rowing regatta)|Varsity]] each year. In July 2013, Utrecht hosted the [[European Youth Olympic Festival]], in which more than 2,000 young athletes competed in nine different Olympic sports.
