On 7 October 2023, [[Hamas]]' [[Al Qassam Brigades]] militant wing (based in the [[Gaza Strip]]), and other groups and individuals incited to join them,<ref name="al-Aqsa Flood incitement">{{cite web |title="We announce the start of the al-Aqsa Flood" |url=https://www.oasiscenter.eu/en/we-announce-the-start-of-the-al-aqsa-flood |website=Fondazione Internazionale Oasis |access-date=8 April 2024 |language=en |date=13 December 2023}}</ref>   initiated an attack on Israel.
