Magnesium compounds, primarily [[magnesium oxide]] (MgO), are used as a [[refractory]] material in [[Metallurgical furnace|furnace]] linings for producing [[iron]], [[steel]], [[nonferrous metal]]s, [[glass]], and [[cement]]. Magnesium oxide and other magnesium compounds are also used in the agricultural, chemical, and construction industries.
