Among European-Americans, 14.9% were of [[irish people|Irish]], 14.1% [[italian people|Italian]], 9.9% [[english people|English]], 8.8% [[french people|French]], 8.2% [[german people|German]], 8.0% [[polish people|Polish]] and 5.7% [[French Canadian]] ancestry. About 9 in 10 spoke [[english language|English]], while 2.9% spoke [[spanish language|Spanish]] and 1.6% [[french language|French]] as their first language. There were 49,431 households, out of which 33.30% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.00% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 8.00% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.90% were non-families. 23.50% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.70% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.03. In the county, the population was spread out, with 23.1% under the age of 18, 12.9% from 18 to 24, 30.7% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females of any age, there were 100.6 males. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there were 99.5 men. The median income for a household in the county was $59,044, and the median income for a family was $70,856. Men had a median income of $46,619 versus $34,255 for women.
