From the 13th century, a separate ban governed parts of present-day [[central Croatia]], western Slavonia, and northwestern [[Bosnia and Herzegovina]], an area where a new entity emerged named Kingdom of Slavonia ({{langx|la|regnum Sclavoniae}}), while modern-day eastern Slavonia was a part of Hungary.
