===2010 census===
As of the [[census]] of 2010, there were 12,155 people, 4,954 households, and 3,236 families residing in the city. The [[population density]] was {{convert|3016.1|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 5,221 housing units at an average density of {{convert|1295.5|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the city was 81.3% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 5.5% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.8% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 7.0% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.1% [[Race (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 2.3% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 3.1% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 5.0% of the population.

There were 4,954 households, of which 31.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.5% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 12.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 34.7% were non-families. 27.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.98.

The median age in the city was 37.8 years. 23.1% of residents were under the age of 18; 8.8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 27.9% were from 25 to 44; 27.6% were from 45 to 64; and 12.6% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 50.1% male and 49.9% female.

As of the [[census]] of 2000, there were 12,738 people, 5,018 households, and 3,387 families residing in the city.  The population density was {{convert|3,096.6|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  There were 5,130 housing units at an average density of {{convert|1,247.1|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  The racial makeup of the city was 90.65% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 2.40% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.66% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 3.12% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.05% [[Pacific Islander (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], 1.02% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 2.09% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 2.62% of the population.

The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.02.

In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.8% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 32.4% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 8.9% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.7 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.5 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $51,974, and the median income for a family was $60,685. Males had a median income of $37,418 versus $29,196 for females. About 4.4% of families and 5.9% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 9.4% of those under age 18 and 5.2% of those age 65 or over.
