===2010 census===
The [[2010 United States census]] counted 1,806 people, 540 households, and 392 families in the township. The population density was {{convert|53.6|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. There were 592 housing units at an average density of {{convert|17.6|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}. The racial makeup was 72.59% (1,311) [[White (U.S. census)|White]], 21.10% (381) [[Black (U.S. census)|Black or African American]], 0.66% (12) [[Native American (U.S. census)|Native American]], 0.44% (8) [[Asian (U.S. census)|Asian]], 0.00% (0) [[Pacific Islander (U.S. census)|Pacific Islander]], 3.93% (71) from [[Race and ethnicity in the United States census#Race|other races]], and 1.27% (23) from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. census)|Hispanic or Latino]] of any race were 8.19% (148) of the population.<ref name=Census2010/>

Of the 540 households, 27.4% had children under the age of 18; 58.0% were married couples living together; 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present and 27.4% were non-families. Of all households, 22.6% were made up of individuals and 9.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.09.<ref name=Census2010/>

18.3% of the population were under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 27.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41.4 years. For every 100 females, the population had 141.8 males. For every 100 females ages 18 and older there were 143.0 males.<ref name=Census2010/>

The racial makeup of the township was 75.63% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 20.91% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.51% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.38% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 1.73% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 0.83% from two or more races. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.02.<ref name=Census2000/><ref name=Census2000SF1/>

In the township the population was spread out, with 22.6% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 23.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females, there were 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.6 males.<ref name=Census2000/><ref name=Census2000SF1/>

The median income for a household in the township was $52,625, and the median income for a family was $62,500. Males had a median income of $45,714 versus $29,727 for females.
