The town is divided by [[Lake Lothing]], which forms the inner part of [[Port of Lowestoft|Lowestoft Harbour]] and gives access via [[Oulton Broad]] and [[Oulton Dyke]] to the [[River Waveney]] and [[the Broads]]. The northern half is on the island of [[Lothingland]].
