The [[Race and ethnicity in the United States Census|racial makeup]] of the city was 84.4% White, 5.8% African American, 0.4% Native American, 3.8% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 3.0% from other races, and 2.5% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 7.3% of the population.

Of the 19,288 households, 33.7% had children under 18 living with them, 55.3% were married couples living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 32.3% were not families.
