===Pre-history=== Archaeological research conducted in eastern Legnica in the late 1970s, showed the existence of a [[Bronze Age Europe|bronze]] [[foundry]] and the graves of three metallurgists. [[Pre-Celtic|After invasions of Celts beyond upper Danube]] basin, the area of Legnica and north foothills of [[Sudetes]] was infiltrated by Celtic settlers and traders. [[Tacitus]] and [[Ptolemy]] recorded the ancient nation of [[Lugii]] (Lygii) in the area, and mentioned their town of Lugidunum, which has been attributed to both Legnica<ref>Pierre Deschamps.
