===Post-war period===
In the immediate aftermath of the [[Second World War]], Salisbury expanded rapidly, boosted by its designation as the capital of the [[Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland]]. At the same time, mostly black suburbs like [[Highfield, Harare|Highfield]] suffered from [[overcrowding]] as their populations boomed.{{citation needed|date=July 2024}}
