The band's debut album, ''[[Adrenaline (album)|Adrenaline]]'', was recorded at [[Bad Animals Studio]] in [[Seattle, Washington]] and released on October 3, 1995. It was produced by Deftones and [[Terry Date]], who would go on to produce the band's next three albums. While they were initially commercially unsuccessful, the band built a dedicated fan base through extensive touring, word-of-mouth and Internet promotion. Regarding the recording of the album, Cunningham said, "At the time we did the first record—which I really like and think is good—you can tell the band was really young. We'd been playing most of those songs for quite a while, and we were just so happy to be making a record that we didn't really think a whole lot about making the songs better".<ref name="abeinterview">Peiken, Matt.
