==Controversy== In 2012, Crandall University came under public scrutiny for receiving municipal funds while refusing to hire non-celibate LGBTQ people. That policy, although regarded as scriptural and consistent with its denominational tradition, was characterized by the press as anti-gay.<ref name="thestar.com">{{cite web |title=New Brunswick university under fire for anti-gay hiring policy |url=https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2012/06/01/new_brunswick_university_under_fire_for_antigay_hiring_policy.html |date=June 1, 2012 |work=Toronto Star |publisher=The [[Toronto Star]]|access-date=February 7, 2015}}</ref><ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/crandall-university-defends-anti-gay-hiring-policy-1.1132882|title=Crandall University defends anti-gay hiring policy|date=May 31, 2012|publisher=Canadian Broadcasting Corporation|access-date=February 7, 2015}}</ref> That same year, the Crandall Student Association publicly broke with the university's administration over the policy, with the student president at the time telling the [[Canadian Broadcasting Corporation|CBC]], "The Christian faith does say do not judge others.
