[[Ptolemy III Euergetes|Ptolemy III]] offered to pay for the reconstruction of the statue, but the [[Pythia|Oracle of Delphi]] made the Rhodians fear that they had offended Helios, and they declined to rebuild it.<ref name=":0" />
