==Geography== According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], the county has a total area of {{convert|331|sqmi}}, of which {{convert|329|sqmi}} is land and {{convert|2.7|sqmi}} (0.8%) is water.<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=http://www2.census.gov/geo/docs/maps-data/data/gazetteer/counties_list_47.txt|publisher=United States Census Bureau|access-date=April 1, 2015|date=August 22, 2012|title=2010 Census Gazetteer Files}}</ref> The county is situated on a series of paralleling ridges running north-northeasterly which are part of the [[Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians|Ridge and Valley]] [[Appalachian Mountains|Appalachians]]. The highest of these, [[Candies Creek Ridge]], runs through the center of Cleveland.<ref name=USGS1>{{cite map|publisher=[[US Geological Survey]]|title=East Cleveland, Tennessee|url=https://ngmdb.usgs.gov/img4/ht_icons/Browse/TN/TN_East%20Cleveland_147460_1976_24000.jpg|year=1976|access-date=November 12, 2017}}</ref> Located in between these ridges are [[stream|creek]]s, and there are several [[Spring (water)|spring]]s in the county, which made the area favorable to early settlers. The highest point in the county is located on the [[Hamilton County, Tennessee|Hamilton County]] line along [[White Oak Mountain]].
