===Early career=== While studying communications in college, Costas began his professional career in 1973, at WSYR-TV{{efn|Not to be confused with the present-day [[WSYR-TV]].}} (now [[WSTM-TV]]) and [[WSYR-FM]] radio in [[Syracuse, New York|Syracuse]].
