===Pre-Roman Alsace===

By 100 BCE Germanic peoples, including eventually the [[Suebi]] and other tribes under [[Ariovistus]], had begun to intrude into areas along the upper Rhine and Danube long settled by [[Celts|Celtic]] [[Gauls]].
