In 2016, rumors circulated that a script for the third and final film had been approved. However, on September 28, 2017, Sarah Jessica Parker announced to [[Extra (American TV program)|''Extra'']] that the film had been cancelled, stating, "I'm disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story.
