Pakistan boasts 2567&nbsp;km of motorways and approximately 263,942&nbsp;km of highways, which handle 92% of passengers and 96% of freight traffic. Despite constituting only 4.6% of the total road length, these north–south links manage 85% of the nation's traffic. The transport landscape of Pakistan features various [[rapid transit|modern transit]] systems. The civil aviation industry, deregulated in 1993, operates with a blend of [[Nationalisation in Pakistan|public]] and [[Privatisation in Pakistan|private]] entities while [[State owned enterprises|state-owned]] [[Pakistan International Airlines]] (PIA) dominates, carrying 73% of domestic passengers and all domestic freight.
