The official bird of the Northern Marianas Islands is the endemic [[Mariana fruit dove]] and the official flower is the [[Plumeria]], which originated in the Americas.<ref name="Geography-2021">{{Cite web |date=2021-04-06 |title=Northern Mariana Islands |url=https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/geography/u-s-states-and-territories/article/northern-mariana-islands |access-date=2023-10-21 |website=Geography |language=en}}</ref> The islands are home to many tropical plants and animals, as well as marine life such as [[whale]]s and [[dugong]]s.<ref name="Geography-2021" /> The islands are heavily forested, with about 80% ground cover consisting of tropical forests. Trees include palm, banana, pine, fern, and plumeria.<ref name="Geography-2021" /> There are many species of coral around the islands, many of which are ringed by coral reefs, and some islands have upwards of 60 species of coral.<ref name="Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands"/>

There are nine known species of birds endemic to the Northern Marianas, such as the [[Saipan Reed Warbler]] and [[Golden white-eye]], as well as a variety of invertebrates, insects, and plants.
