Through a long process of indoctrination and practices among the pre-Columbian settlers, the Spanish [[friar]]s made faith their most important task. The city of Lima, capital of the [[Viceroyalty of Peru]], became in the 17th century a city of [[Monastery|monastic]] life where saints such as [[Rose of Lima]] (patron saint of Catholics in Lima, of [[National Police of Peru]], of the [[Republic of Peru]], of the [[Americas|American continent]] and of the [[Philippines]]) and [[Martín de Porres]].
