An individual's belief in their ability to lead is associated with an increased willingness to accept a leadership role and find success in its pursuit.<ref>{{Cite journal|last1=Hoyt|first1=C. There are no set conditions for this characteristic to become emergent. However, it must be sustained by an individual's belief that they have the ability to learn and improve it with time.
