Haryana consists of six divisions comprising 22 districts. Each district is headed by a Deputy Commissioner (DC), an [[Indian Administrative Service|IAS]] officer who also functions as the District Magistrate (DM) for maintaining law and order and the [[District magistrate|Collector]] for land revenue administration.

The districts are further divided into [[Subdivision in India|sub-divisions]] and [[tehsil]]s for land revenue administration, and into [[Community development block|blocks]] for development administration.  The subdivisions and tehsils are headed by [[Sub-divisional magistrate|Sub-Divisional Magistrates]] and [[Tehsildar]]s, respectively.

===Law and order===
The [[Haryana Police]] force is the law enforcement agency of Haryana. The highest judicial authority in the state is the [[Punjab and Haryana High Court]], with the next higher right of appeal being to the [[Supreme Court of India]].
