Jellyfish have long been eaten in some parts of the world.<ref name=asfood /> [[Fishery|Fisheries]] have begun harvesting the American cannonball jellyfish, ''[[Stomolophus meleagris]]'', along the southern Atlantic coast of the United States and in the Gulf of Mexico for export to Asia.<ref name="Hydrobiologia" />
