On 28 January 675, Wu submitted 12 suggestions. Another was that a three-year mourning period should be observed for a mother's death in all cases, not just in cases when the father was no longer alive. Emperor Gaozong praised her suggestions and adopted them.<ref name="ZZTJ202" />
