The two teams rarely played each other given they were on opposite conferences, but the rivalry gained notoriety in the late 2000s thanks to some close contests and memorable moments between Tom Brady and [[Eli Manning]]. In the 2007 season, the [[2007 New England Patriots–New York Giants game|Patriots defeated the Giants]] 38–35 to clinch a perfect 16–0 regular season but could not finish a perfect 19–0 season in [[Super Bowl XLII]] following a 17–14 defeat. That game featured the now iconic [[Helmet Catch]] from [[David Tyree]].
