===Participatory budgeting=== Greensboro is the first city in the South to run a [[participatory budgeting]] (PB) process, whereby the city's residents decide how a portion of the city budget is spent. The first cycle was for $500,000, ran through April 2016, and was incorporated into the 2016β17 budget, with projects like murals, bridge improvements, and a citywide bus tracking app voted on by residents.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.greensboro-nc.gov/departments/budget-evaluation/participatory-budgeting/about#:~:text=Participatory%20Budgeting%20(PB)%20Greensboro%20is,that%20time%2C%20residents%20submit%20ideas.|title=About participating budgeting|website=Greensboro-nc.gov|access-date=November 3, 2021}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.rhinotimes.com/news/voting-opens-for-participatory-budgeting-projects/|title=Voting Opens For Participatory Budgeting|last=Hammer|first=John|date=September 14, 2022|website=Rhino Times|access-date=November 27, 2022}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|url=https://greensboro.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/bus-stop-seating-park-improvements-among-projects-greensboro-residents-voted-for-in-citys-participatory-budgeting/article_55cbf918-5556-11ed-8b01-eba47cec595f.html|title=Bus stop seating, park improvements among projects Greensboro residents voted for in city's participatory budgeting process|date=October 26, 2022|website=[[Greensboro News & Record]]|access-date=November 27, 2022}}</ref>
