When investigating the effects the theory of [[loop quantum gravity]] would have on cosmology, a [[loop quantum cosmology]] model has evolved that provides a possible mechanism for cosmological inflation. Loop quantum gravity assumes a quantized spacetime. If the energy density is larger than can be held by the quantized spacetime, it is thought to bounce back.<ref>
