==== Board of Governors ====
The UM Board of Governors is the governing body of the university, overseeing the administrative and business affairs of the university. It is composed of 23 members and exercises exclusive control over financial policy and have formal authority in all other matters,<ref name="thecanadianencyclopedia2" /> as well as having the authority to decide on all matters that are not reserved to Senate.<ref name=":8" />

It is required to make an annual report to Manitoba's Lieutenant Governor in Council and send it to the [[Minister of Education (Manitoba)|Minister of Education]]. The Board also has the power to appoint president, vice-presidents, deans, the librarian, comptroller, and members of academic staff.<ref name=":8" />
