In the last decades, there has been a move away from a traditional agriculture-based economy in the province of Naples to one based on [[Tertiary sector of the economy|service industries]].{{citation needed|date=July 2024}} The service sector employs the majority of Neapolitans, although more than half of these are small enterprises with fewer than 20 workers; about 70 companies are said to be medium-sized with more than 200 workers, and about 15 have more than 500 workers.{{citation needed|date=July 2024}}
