==Athletics== {{Main|Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Lady Techsters}} Louisiana Tech's sixteen varsity athletic teams compete in [[NCAA Division I]] sports as a member of [[Conference USA]]. The university's seven men's teams and eight out of nine of the women's teams are known as the Bulldogs, and the women's basketball team is known as the Lady Techsters. The teams wear the university colors of red and blue except for the women's basketball team that wears their signature Columbia blue. ===Football=== {{Main|Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football}} Louisiana Tech's football team played its first season in [[1901 Louisiana Industrial football team|1901]] and has competed at the [[NCAA Division I]] [[Football Bowl Subdivision]] (FBS) level from 1975 to 1981 and 1989 to present.
