Deacons among [[Jehovah's Witnesses]] are referred to as [[Organizational structure of Jehovah's Witnesses#Ministerial servants|ministerial servants]], claiming it preferable to translate the descriptive Greek term used in the Bible rather than merely transliterate it as though it were a title.<ref>"Questions From Readers", ''The Watchtower'', June 15, 1962, pp. 383−84, "The religious words or titles 'bishop' and 'deacon' are simply words that have been more or less closely transliterated into the English language; that is, they are carried over much like the way they appear in the Greek instead of being translated.
