These can be classified and recorded in several forms. The Halls of Fame and PFA Players of the Year are noted below. Aston Villa have had several players who were [[List of one-club men in association football|one-club men]], including inaugural club Hall of Fame inductee [[Billy Walker (footballer, born 1897)|Billy Walker]]. In 1998, to celebrate the 100th season of League football, [[The Football League]] released a list entitled the [[Football League 100 Legends]] that consisted of "100 legendary [[Association football|football]] players".
