Fadden was appointed to the [[Privy Council of the United Kingdom|Privy Council]] in 1942, which granted him the style "[[Right Honourable]]", and was made a Knight Commander of the [[Order of St Michael and St George]] (KCMG) in 1951.<ref>[https://honours.pmc.gov.au/honours/awards/1082573 It's an Honour - Fadden KCMG] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190222204621/https://honours.pmc.gov.au/honours/awards/1082573 |date=22 February 2019 }}</ref> He was knighted in person by King George VI in London on 31 January 1952, only a week before the King's death, and formally sworn of the Privy Council the following day.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article2847700 |title=Sir Arthur Fadden Invested By King |newspaper=Trove |publisher=Nla.gov.au |date=1 February 1952 |access-date=30 March 2011}}</ref> In his memoirs he recalled that the King had accidentally knighted him as "Sir William" (his middle name). After Fadden's death, the [[Canberra]] suburb of [[Fadden, Australian Capital Territory|Fadden]] and the federal electoral [[Division of Fadden]] in [[Queensland]] were named in his honour, as is traditional for Australian prime ministers.
